Kids on the Run!
Cobden Elementary is excited to announce we will be continuing the kids running program this spring. It is important to note a child's running ability will not be the focus of this program. The focus of this program will be to encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. The goal at the end of the program will be for every student to cross the finish line of an organized 5K. This will be a non-competitive event, completing the 5K will be symbolic that any goal you set is tangible.
The program will start Tuesday, April 19 and end Thursday May 26th. We will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 p.m to 4:30 p.m. A snack will be provided and it is recommended you send your child with
a water bottle on the days we meet. Please fill out and return the form that comes home if you would like your child to participate in this free program. Once we get a list of children wanting to participate more information and details will be provided. This program is offered to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. If you have any questions please contact Allison Jackson, email abjackson@cusd17.com. Return forms to office Friday, April 1st.
Cobden Youth & Community Advocates (CYCA) will be doing a green-out May 3rd for Mental Health Awareness month. They are selling these lime green t-shirts for $12, and proceeds go toward The Night's Shield, an organization that serves children in our area including the Cobden district. The winning art design was created by Walker Williams and Emma Kilpatrick, with some help from community member Tony Phillipe. Orders with money must be placed no later than the end of the school day April 8th. Forms and money may be given to any CYCA member or to the high school office. If you prefer to order online, here is a link to the store-https://shopsilkworm.com/cobdenhs
Mrs. Genung’s Kindergarten read Where the Wild Things Are and used their imaginations like Max did to create their very own Wild Things.
